A review paper was published in Chem. Rev. by our college

Recently, the research group of Prof. Hou Zhenshan has been invited to contribute a review article entitled “Temperature-Responsive Ionic Liquids: Fundamental Behaviors and Catalytic Applications” in Chem. Rev. for the upcoming “Special Issue: Ionic Liquid” (Chem. Rev., 2017, DOI: 10.1021/acs.chemrev.6b00652, http://pubs.acs. org/doi /pdfplus/10.1021/ acs.chemrev. 6b00652).

The ionic liquids (ILs) are an organic salt with organic cation and suitable anion combination. They became more and more attractive in catalysis, chemical industry, electrochemistry, biomass conversion, extraction and many other areas due to their unique properties. ThermomorphicIL is a particular ionic liquid and its properties are temperature–responsive. In this comprehensive review article, the authors provided a detailed description about UCST and LCST behavior of the thermoregulated IL systems. A wide range of application of thermoregulated ILs in catalytic reactions is extensively demonstrated. Especially, a homogeneous phase can be observed under reaction temperature but phase-separation occurred at cooled conditions after reaction, which is extremely attractive for catalyst separation and reuses.
